What is Stable Minds MHP

The Stable Minds Mental Health Program is an innovative, first of its kind in Australia, leading mental health program for psychological disorders, rehabilitation and intensive therapy.

We strive to provide an alternative approach to treatment for diagnosed conditions including depression, anxiety, Attention Deficit Hypertensive Disorder (ADHD), conduct disorders, addiction, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, spectrum and health difficulties,  dissociative disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other  health difficulties.

The Stable Minds team work closely to devise programs that are tailored and that will make a tangible behaviour difference and focus on the person holistically, working on their physical, sensory, communication and mental challenges, in a fun, motivating, supportive and positive environment.

The Stable Minds model of therapy offers tailored and progressive intensive programs that are designed for specific needs and goals of the participant and are outcome based. The main 'Milestone' program runs 1 day per week for 3 days. The day is typically up to 7 hours (9:00am to 4:00pm) and may include up to 5 modules, each up to 60-minutes in duration. Additionally, other modified programs are available for private, corporate and interstate roadshows.

The day involves a multi-disciplinary therapy team of fully registered health and medical practitioners including Clinical Psychologists, General Practitioners (GP), Exercise Physiologists, Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapists and Registered Nurses who are all tertiary educated, trained and very motivated to deliver the highest standard of care.

What truly sets Stable Minds apart is the unique way in which our program is offered. Apart from being a full day immersive program, compared to an hour treatment, we also combine traditional therapies with a plant and animal environment that has proven to be an effective technique to encourage positive behaviour change. This provides an alternative to traditional clinic settings to complete the experience and enables our participants to maximise their potential by truly being able to reconnect with nature and themselves and the results can be life changing.

Our program features access to a beautiful farm in the Blue Mountains (New South Wales) with views of the countryside. Other farm animals including horses, chickens and goats compliment the experience, along with acres of fresh open air, calming and peaceful therapy locations with designated and equipped spaces to make your experience memorable.

What is Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT)

Growing evidence supports the effectiveness of treatment with horses in a therapeutic environment. Studies have resulted in a body of literature supporting the therapeutic value of the human-animal interaction. Equine Assisted Therapy can help with depression, anxiety, Attention Deficit Hypertensive Disorder (ADHD), conduct disorders, addiction, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, spectrum and health difficulties, dissociative disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other mental health difficulties.

Equine Assisted Therapy is a form of therapy that includes horses and a specialist psychologist or psychotherapist working together with a participant to create positive change. Equine Assisted Therapy often includes a number of beneficial equine activities such as observing, handling, grooming, groundwork, and structured challenging exercises focused on the needs and goals of the participant.

Equine Assisted Therapy provides unique non-verbal opportunities for the client to enhance self-awareness, recognise maladaptive behaviours, identify negative feelings, and face self-defeating cognitions. It may be used for psychosocial difficulties and mental health needs that can result in significant changes in cognition, mood, judgment, insight, perception, social skills, communication, behaviour, and learning.

Equine Therapy may yield a variety of benefits including: Trust, Anxiety Reduction, Depression and Decreasing isolation, Mindfulness, Self-Esteem, Impulse, Regulation, Self-Efficacy, Positive Identity, Improve Communication, Growth with Nature, Self-Acceptance, Social Skills, Assertiveness, Boundaries, Creativity, Spontaneity, Perspective and Giving.
